Mayana’s First Christmas

We had a lovely wonderful day with Perth family for Mayana’s first Christmas.

We woke up at Tan Tan & Oom Campbell’s, at a very dignified hour. We dressed up in our Christmas clothes and the day began!

We downed a beautiful breakfast of stollen (Dutch Christmas bread), eggs, ham & cheese croissants and summer fruits. It was all very festive and delicious.

After we’d had our fill, it was time to attack the mountain of presents under the tree!

Oom Campbell was our Christmas Jester and the present distributor. The Murrays, like us, do presents the slow way: one at a time, with everyone watching as each present is opened. It’s the best way to do presents, and with our big group, it lasted hours!!!

Mayana enjoyed receiving her Christmas presents. We thought she’d be a bit more interested in the paper than what she was, happily, she enjoyed her presents far more!

She got a set of wooden blocks from her Tante Beth, Tante Lexi, and Beth’s boyfriend Lachlan; An awesome wooden shape-sorter from Kami & Opa, and a wooden xylophone, some books and a trip to Perth from Peter and I!

After all that excitement, she was ready for a sleep, and the rest of us had some chill-out time while we snacked on delicious snacky-type foods.

Prawn cocktails and continued snacking for lunch. Mayana stole a piece of white Christmas from the table and absolutely devoured it, and not two minutes later threw it up all over Tan Tan’s rug and her Christmas outfit. Nice.

We spent the afternoon playing board games which people had received for Christmas, and just hanging out.

Oom Campbell’s sister and her kids joined us for a delicious Christmas dinner of webber-roasted turkey and salads. Great fun and feasting was enjoyed by all!

  4. Your Christmas present times ounds a lot like ours! Even just for our immediate family it took AGES! And then when we did extended family presents that night my Uncle just handed them all out at once, and it was totally not as much fun!

Glad you had such a lovely time away and the Mayana's first Christmas was so great!
